What to expect from the tour:
This tour lasts for five hours or half a day at the cost of 67€ per person, giving you the chance to explore Cassis, a wonderful French seaside town that’s packed with beauty. If you are holidaying in Aix-en-Provence, it can be reached in just 45 minutes.
While many other tours will take travellers to Cassis, we are different because our tour also visits the Calanque (creek) of Port Miou. We take a direct route there and we arrive early as this makes it easier to park but also embrace the natural beauty of the area. While you can spend time walking around and enjoying the free time, it is possible to walk together, whereby your driver will explore the area and explain everything which includes the coastline and the entrance of the inlet. This Calanque is actually a marina for small boats and makes for the ideal place to capture stunning photographs and memories. We usually spend around 45 minutes here.
We then choose to leave the Calanque of Port Miou and we take a drive along the Presqu'Île (peninsula) of Cassis before we reach the village. Again, you will enjoy the wonderful views of the area where you can see stunning villas and hotels, with views over the coast.
The village is a great place to explore and you will be dropped off at the centre, giving you free time of around 1.5 hours to explore although the time is flexible. Should you wish, you can book a boat trip to reach the three Calanques which takes 45 minutes with tickets being purchased directly in the Port of Cassis at a cost of 15€ pp. However, boat trips are only possible if the weather is good. Of course, you can spend time visiting the village and enjoy a glass of wine, explore the beach or even try some shopping.
Before we return to Aix-en-Provence, if the weather allows, we will take the Route des Cretes to reach the Cap Canaille which reaches an impressive height of 394 metres or 1,293 feet which is located between Cassis and La Ciotat.
This tour is available on Tuesdays and Saturdays and departs from Aix-en-Provence and it can be available from Marseille, although it’s recommended to call in advance to check availability from Marseille and remember, as the locals say - "Qui a vu Paris et pas Cassis, n'a rien vu" (He who has seen Paris and not Cassis has seen nothing).
